Courageous and committed to help a parent, save a child, Parents Anonymous volunteers have gone beyond condemning child abuse by becoming actively involved in the work of strengthening families and stopping the cycle of child abuse and neglect.
Parents Anonymous of New Jersey is a volunteer based organization. Every year over 100 volunteers devote time and energy to help parents throughout the state in their struggle to be the best parents they can be.
All volunteers receive training, materials, ongoing supervison, and continuing education opportunities.

PARENT STRESSLINE VOLUNTEER
Parents Anonymous Parent Stressline volunteers give four hours per week to take calls on a listening and information and referral hotline devoted to family issues. Callers include parents under stress and in crisis, professionals and others interested in learning about Parent Anonymous. A twenty-four hour training course is provided. Volunteers receive comprehensive training materials as well as an up-to-date Statewide Resource Manual. Through a call diverter, calls may be taken in ones own home. Minimum length of commitment desired: one year.
PARENTS ANONYMOUS SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATOR
Parent support group facilitators are individuals with training or experience in a helping profession. The facilitator acts as role model and support person to the Parent Group Leader, a group member. Facilitators donate approximately four hours per week to meet with parents under stress and take occasional crisis calls or calls of inquiry. Training, supervision and on-going support provided. Minimum length of commitment desired: one year.
PARENTS ANONYMOUS H.O.P.E.S.GROUP FACILITATOR (Healing Ourselves Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually)
H.O.P.E.S. is a support group for individuals who have experienced the trauma of childhood abuse. Group members may or may not be parents. The H.O.P.E.S. facilitator should have some experience working in the field of child sexual abuse. The facilitator gives approximately four hours peer week to meet with the group and receive calls from potential members. Minimum length of commitment desired: one year.
PARENTS ANONYMOUS SUPPORT GROUP FACILITATOR IN THE CORRECTIONS SYSTEM
Parent support and parent education group facilitators in New Jerseys prisons and half-way houses. Facilitator acts as a role model and resource for incacerated parents. Groups can be traditional Parents Anonymous model support, PA POSSE tailored for minority urban males or H.O.P.E.S. Training in facilitation skills, Active Parenting and Effective Black Parenting provided in addition to comprehensive training materials and on-going support and supervision. Minimum length of commitment desired: one year.
PARENTS ANONYMOUS STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Parents Anonymous accepts students from local colleges and universities to participate in the Student Internship Program. Students have the opportunity to experience the workings of a community-based agency and may work in their preferred area of the Parents Anonymous program. Not only do students reap the benefits of volunteerism, they receive valuable on-the-job training in a forefront agency.
CHILDRENS PROGRAM WORKERS and CHILD CARE VOLUNTEERS
Childrens Program Workers are individuals who have some experience or interest in working with children. The Childrens Program runs at the same time as the Parent Group and follows the same principles. Workers are trained in the Parents Anonymous model and principles, developmentally appropriate practices and behavior management.
All Childrens Program Workers receive on-going training and supervision.
Child Care Volunteers assist the Childrens Program Worker or take care of children of Parents Anonymous group members while they meet at sites where there is no formal childrens program. Minimum length of commitment desired: one year.
PARENTS ANONYMOUS OF NEW JERSEY, INC. OFFICE VOLUNTEERS
Parents Anonymous uses volunteers for office projects such as target mailings, conferences, trainings and general officework. No time commitment required.
BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEMBER
The Board of Trustees of Parents Anonymous of New Jersey, Inc. develops and plans policy.
PROFESSIONAL IN-KIND SERVICE VOLUNTEERS
Parents Anonymous engages professionals from a variety of fields for services such as public relations, marketing, computer programming, fundraising, etc.
